Due to several factors you may get chapped and dry lips whether it is due to the winter, heavy summer or extra added pollution in the ambience.
Lips don’t possess any oil or sweat glands and the regular exposure to chemicals in the food, beverages or cosmetic products they are more prone to other problems. So, try applying the lip balm with the balancing moisturizers, wear a sunscreen and protect yourself. Caring lips doesn’t end with the external application of balms but prolongs with the internal care too, eat large amounts of fruits and veggies which help your lips and body to stay moisturized.
Go with a lip balm
To protect your lips from the environmental pollution damage and weather conditions apply lip balm before you going out. Search for the lip balm that is having vitamin E and sufficient moisturizing agents like shea butter and jojoba oil. Some of the lip balms are coming with SPF 6 or more they also work perfect to shield your lips from the harmful agents.
Some kind of lip balms are harmful, don’t go with a balm that is having salicylic acid, it acts great for the acne medication but serves problems to lips. You also need to stay away from fragrances, camphor, menthol and other soapy ingredients.
Don’t lick your lips

Eat fruits and veggies

Apply a paste of rose petals
Rose is known to have moisturising properties. Take a few petals of the rose flower and soak them in milk overnight. Grind the petals the next morning to make a fine paste out of them. Apply this paste on your lips every day before going out in the winter.
Take sufficient amounts of Vitamin B
Your lips may go dry for the lack of Vitamin B. Talk to your doctor so that you can identify the amount of Vitamin B present in your body. If it is lower than normal, he or she may recommend that you take Vitamin B capsules or foods that are rich in this vitamin like skim milk, Swiss cheese, eggs, tofu, red meat, and fortified cereals.
Massage your lips with ghee
Clarified ghee can make your lips soft and leaving it on the lips overnight will act as a way to naturally protect them.
Apply mashed papaya on your lips
Mash a ripe papaya so that a juicy paste is formed out of it. Apply this paste on your lips after lying down on a towel. Leave it on the lips for about ten to fifteen minutes. Papaya contains enzymes that are good for the health of the lips. It will soften the lips when you follow this home remedy every day.
Do not apply too much cream
Do not apply too much lip cream on the lips. The chemicals in it can damage the lips and make them go dry. Instead of lip creams, use natural ingredients on your lips, which will not only protect your lips but also keep them from going dry.
Use black tea home remedy
Dip a black tea bag in some warm water and place it on your lips. Press it for three to five minutes on your lips and this will automatically give your lips protection in the winter.
Candelilla wax home remedy
- 4 teaspoons of Candelilla wax
- 3 teaspoons of meadowfoam
- 2 teaspoons of olive oil
- 5 teaspoons of avocado butter
- 3 teaspoons of dulse extract
- 4 teaspoons of acai lip flavour
Melt the meadowfoam and the Candelilla wax with some olive oil. Blend in the avocado butter when it has melted completely. Mix the ingredients till they have been combined thoroughly. Pour in the remaining extract. Stir once again. Take the balm that has been created and pour it into a container. Let it cool for some time. Once ready, apply it on your lips.
Peppermint lip balm
- 2 tablespoons of carrier oil
- 8 drops of peppermint oil
- 1 tablespoon of beeswax pellets
Put the beeswax pellets and the carrier oil into a jar. Heat the ingredients together after sealing the jar till the ingredients melt. Remove the jar from the flame and add some peppermint oil to it. Allow it to cool and apply on your lips.
Nutrient rich lip balm
- Coconut oil
- Yellow beeswax
- Vitamin E oil
This recipe can help protect your lips in the winter. Heat the coconut oil and yellow beeswax together until they have melted. The use of a double boiler is recommended. Add the Vitamin E oil to the mixture. If you would like more of this lip balm, experiment with the same ingredients but in different quantities.
Cocoa butter lip balm
- 2 tablespoons of cocoa butter
- 2 tablespoons of peppermint oil
- 2 tablespoons of Shea butter
- 1 tablespoon of beeswax
- 3-4 drops of Vitamin E oil
Heat the butters and the wax until melted. Add the oils while it is still getting heated.Mix together and let the mixture cool in the jar to which you have transferred it. Apply on your lips before going to sleep.
Pumpkin spiced lip balm
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- 1 tablespoon of pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
Combine all the above mentioned ingredients. Once you have finished mixing them together, they will give you a natural lip balm that is a bit sticky yet effective. Apply the balm on your lips every night before going to sleep so that it will protect your lips.
