Almost 10 million Indian men work late in the race to succeed at office and this trend had started ever since the advent of the Industrial Revolution. Employees not only work from 9 to 5 but also extra hours to impress their bosses. These men, who work late, are at a higher risk of suffering from health problems. Here are some of the health problems faced by men, who work late.

To win in the race of the life and to climb the longest milestones of success more and more men are likely to work late. And for some of them it is a need or could be an obsession. But many studies proved the men who are under the circle or working late hours develop various health and mental problems. There are lot of health problems and risks induced in working late hours on regular basis. Most men like to cease themselves with the work with the help of few methods such as taking caffeine and etc,which will fuel them to work long.

The habit of working late kills your perfect sleeping hours, the irregular sleep habit leads to health problems such as heart disease and strokes. Men who are working late may fall under many small and chronic term health diseases including constipation, insomnia, upset stomach, diarrhoea, heartburn, nausea etc on shot term. In the long term, you may get the health problems such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity,  metabolic syndrome, problems with fertility, pregnancy etc. So, escape from these kind of short term and long term diseases men need to control their desires and lifestyle. Stimulant addictions

To boost the body and mind one may tends to consume caffeine and other energy drinks. Some men also depend on cigarettes also, relying on such dependents leads to further complications. People who got addicted by caffeine and nicotine show disorders like anxiety and sleeping problems.

Diabetics

Diabetics is another major health problem attacking the men who work in the night shifts regularly. The habit of constant irregular eating leads to increase in the risk of high blood pressure, obesity, high blood sugar and unhealthy cholesterol levels in men.

Heart diseases

Many studies have been showing the link between working late and risk of heart attacks and heart diseases. The risk greater among the men who work in the night shifts.

Obesity

Men who are working late hours majorly generate the obesity problem due to poor diet habits and lack of any physical exercise. Working late hours is also linked with the low development of leptin, a hormone that regulates the appetite.

Gastrointestinal disorders

Irregular eating habits while working late leads to health problems like constipation, insomnia, upset stomach, diarrhoea, heartburn, nausea etc.

Night workers had lower levels of serotonin, a chemical related to brain that plays a key role in switching of moods.

Metabolic syndrome

Most men, who work late, suffer from the metabolic syndrome, which is a combination of health problems such as unhealthy cholesterol levels and high blood pressure. You could also get stroke if you do not care for yourself. According to one study, the chances of suffering from the metabolic syndrome were higher in those that worked late than those that did not. In fact, the incidence was three times higher in the people that worked late at night.

Cancer

Shift work can increase the chances of getting cancer. A lot of evidence has been collected that prove that those who do shift work can also get prostate cancer, and colorectal cancer. So far, the evidence collected suggests that only after several years of shift work would the chances of getting cancer go up.

Hallucinations

Did you know that working late could lead to hallucinations? You could end up imagining things that are not actually there. If you have lots of hallucinations, it would be better to talk to your doctor regarding this problem.

Memory loss

Wait. Do you remember having worked late last night? If not, you should remember that you have forgotten many things since you worked late the last few nights. You should avoid working late if you would like to maintain your health. Moreover, it lessens your cognitive powers.

When you work late, you would naturally feel like smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol to combat that stress. This will make you tired before you should.

Existing health problems worsen

When you do shift work or work extra hours at night, it will worsen your existing health problems. If you are already suffering from some health problems, it would be better to talk to your employer and ask him or her to consider your health condition and leave you early. This will prevent your health problems from worsening in the future.

When you do shift work, you might suffer from the seasonal affective disorder, which is an abnormality of the retino-hypothalamic tract. You would need to stop working late if you would like to feel better and fast.

Rheumatoid arthritis

You might suffer from rheumatoid arthritis if you work late nights. If there is a disturbance in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, it might cause this condition. This can also result in chronic fatigue and pain in the joints of your legs and hands.

Anxiety

If yes, you need to see a doctor or a physician, who would probably tell you that it is because of your habit of late night work that has resulted in this, which is correct. When you feel anxious, the quality of your performance at work automatically reduces and this can even result in workplace injuries, which is also equally dangerous.

Slow brain function

Your brain function becomes slower and you become more sluggish when you work late. Your body’s internal clock refuses to assist you any further after a certain number of years of working late. Therefore, you should consider not working late before it is too late. The slow brain function is due to the lack of exposure to the sun, which gives you Vitamin D, which is required for the proper functioning of the brain.
