Making of aftershave lotions or balms

You will always need an astringent for tightening the pores after the shaving is done. This astringent is also good for guarding your skin from eruptions or small cuts that may get infected. The astringent that most people use are alcohol, rum or even botanical gin. Alcohol may give a burning sensation but the others will be more soothing. Some also choose a secondary astringent to pair off the stinging sensation of the main astringent. This can be Witch hazel that is made from bark of its plant and has got tannin that gives soothing effect. It can also evade itching or redness of the skin. This takes care of the bacteria that causes acne and gives you a fresh and tingling. The next thing is an emollient like glycerin or lanolin. You can use a lot of essential oils as per your choice.

The above recipes will help you to prepare aftershaves if you want to make them at home. Feel the freshness and be a proud owner of these lotions made by you.
